Exploring and pursuing your goals and objectives
Running a marathon and climbing a mountain require preparation, flexibility and perseverance. Due to this, they are often used as metaphors for other areas of our lives – personal or work-related.
Jimmy Chin, a National Geographic photographer and mountaineer, puts it simply:
‘The two great risks I believe are risking too much, but the one I’m scared of is risking too little because you have this opportunity [in life] and you should make the most of it. I learned early on that unless you do that [see what happens if you throw yourself at something] you’ll never find out [what your potential is]. In a way that’s almost like the meaning of life, finding a purpose and pushing yourself in that space.’
In this video, we see people pushing themselves to overcome internal and external challenges that arise in the exploration and pursuit of their goals and objectives.
